The Door Opens
The Deck and The Construct are real now — the paid circle and the inner circle. Until the dark of the moon on August 13, the Construct seat comes with a founder's mark.
Howdy, folks.
Since the spring I’ve been writing Feral Architecture as one thing: a newsletter. A piece a few times a week, the true thing said as well as I can say it, free at the door and staying that way. That part doesn’t change.
What changes today is that there’s now a door inside the newsletter — and as of today, it’s open. Behind it are two rooms.
First, so you know what kind of house this is: this is a place where both The Mórrígan and grep are real. Where a tarot spread and a terminal window are both legitimate instruments. Where we talk about your shadow and your calendar in the same breath and neither one gets the condescension. If you’ve spent years leaving half of yourself at each door — the woo half at the office, the technical half at the temple — you can stop. Both are true. Both are tools. As far as I know, this is the only house built for the whole of you.
The first room is The Deck — the paid circle. It’s where the newsletter stops being something that happens at you and becomes a practice you’re inside of. At its center: the new-moon reading — once a moon, live, cards and chart, the cycle ahead read out loud, plus an open hour. Recorded if you can’t make it; written up if you’d rather read.
The inner room is The Construct. Everything in The Deck, plus the part that makes this a living thing instead of a subscription: the always-on channel where the circle actually lives between the moons — a current, an egregore with a login, a thing that keeps running after you close the screen partly because you’re standing in it — and the patron’s seat that keeps all of this unflattened. You’re not buying more features in there. You’re holding the roof up with me.
And here’s what opens with a window: from now until the dark of the moon on Thursday, August 13, everyone who takes a seat in The Construct comes in as a Feral Founder — one of the first hands on this while it’s still mostly fire and intention and a half-built altar. The founding seat carries three things you cannot get later: your rate locked for good, a consecration spoken over you by name, and your place among the ones who were here first. Both rooms stay open after August 13. The founder’s mark does not.
I’ll tell you exactly what’s inside over the next few weeks — the reading, the terms, the why. Today I just want to open the door and say the thing out loud: it’s real now, and there’s a seat with your name on it.
If you already know — if you’ve been reading this for months thinking I want to be further in than the front porch — the door’s right here.
And if you don’t know yet, good. Stay on the porch. Read the next few. I’ll make the case, and I won’t rush you — the moon sets the clock on this, not me.
Stay feral, folks.
— Matt
